Mechanical problem delays newspaper

Monday's print edition of Steamboat Today has been delayed because of a mechanical problem with the newspaper's press. The press was repaired by 6:45 a.m., and delivery began shortly afterward. Most of the city of Steamboat Springs had been delivered by 8:30 a.m. Normally, the press rolls between 1 and 3 a.m. on the Today, with the goal of having all 11,000 copies of the newspaper delivered to racks by 6:30 a.m. Circulation director Steve Balgenorth said all newspapers should be delivered by noon.

Two South Routt teenagers are dead after an oil storage tank they were jumping on in the Routt National Forest exploded, the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office reported. The incident occurred late Saturday night at a well site off Rio Blanco County Road 8 near Chapman Reservoir. Killed were 17-year-old Samuel Hedemark of Phippsburg and 19-year-old Christopher King Fuller of Yampa.

A 3-year-old child is at Denver Children’s Hospital after apparently wandering away from her home with little to protect her from sub-zero temperatures. The child, a girl, was found at about 8:50 a.m. Wednesday on the side of Routt County Road 52E near Fly Gulch, Lt. Bill Brandenburg of the Routt County Sheriff’s Office said. The child’s name has not been released.
