Once again people don't see the obvious.
Recreation and tourism is what brings money to this area.
Money is what brings jobs which puts food on your tables.
I'd like to see people and our town continue to prosper.
We should be even more recreation based than we are.
We should be a bike friendly town, at this point we are not.
A core trail is a weak attempt at bike friendly.
And for those of you drivers that get all silly about bikes on the road, relax and be patient. Just go around and stop getting all worked up.
It is not a big deal.

Why were the cops chasing him? For riding a skateboard?
I appreciate our police force, but come on… lighten up a bit.

It will only get worse around here unless people like Rod keep up the fight. Nice work buddy. I, like you would hate to see Steamboat looking like the bigger cities. No Ghetto!

So I checked my yard this afternoon form last night and guess what… Stool from a mom and cub that came by last night in the middle of the night.
So here is a question, since I live a stone through from the house they broke into, how in the heck does the DOW know they killed the correct animal.
Also, I agree with Steamy1- start enforcing the law and shutting your windows. This is their land too. As Humans we need to help the wildlife to survive.
Thanks to all those that make the effort to help them out.

I also live in the area, and this mother was in my yard often, during the day even. She had 2 cubs two years ago that fed off my berry bushes and crab apples nightly for 2 years. And I saw her and her new cub just the other night. I always shut all the windows that she or other bears could get to. I do worry about bears coming in the house, I have 2 small children, but I think it is unfair for us to take the life of a beautiful creature that has shown no agression. She seemed passive towards humans. I think we need to be more careful with our open windows.
Also I don't understand why we couldn't try the relocation or hazing first.
I'm sure the DOW thinks they made the right choice, but it seems way too harsh.
It is sad.

I moved to Steamboat for the same reason many of us live here. For a safe place live and to raise a family.
One of the main things that keeps a place safe is law enforcement. I have lived in places were there was a lack of it and have seen first hand what that can do. Very ugly stuff.
We need to put a stop to this hands off approach, before it causes our safety to be compromised. Not to mention wasting our taxes.
