When blogs attack

Posted by mlawrence on August 27, 2008

I have to admit, and it pains me somewhat to say this, but you don't see this kind of excitement about newspapers. Blogs are the new hotness, if "new" is even accurate anymore.

Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, founder of the liberal-leaning political analysis Web blog the Daily Kos, is making the rounds this morning through The Big Tent, a multimedia hive on Wynkoop. See a photo of him in our DNC 2008 photo gallery. Daily Kos is one of the hosts of this tent, which is featuring panels and presentations upstairs all week, while downstairs media types from all around the world post, file, record, edit and transmit instantaneous news from the convention here in Denver, where everyone I talk to says Hillary won their heart last night. Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer also fired up the Pepsi Center crowd last night, and just stopped by The Big Tent to briefly talk with media. Will Rockafellow, business operations director for Daily Kos, told me he's pumped by the tent's tangible energy. "It's awesome, man - we've got Schweitzer in here," he said. "We're doing the same job you're doing (meaning journalism), just in a different medium." Right now I'm off to a meeting of the rural caucus. Maybe I'll come back here later for the beer garden.
